Radon
Where it comes from?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has no taste, smell or colour and requires special equipment to detect it’s presence. It is found in all soils and rocks to some degree, but varies in level in different parts of the country. Radon is formed in the ground by the radioactive decay of radium, which itself is a radioactive decay product of uranium. The gas rises through fissures in rock and is quickly diluted and made harmless in the atmosphere.
