Environmental Health
The principal areas of responsibility for the Environmental Health Department include:
- Pollution Control - air pollution, noise investigations, complaints, public health nuisances, dealing with planning applications
- Health and Safety - programmed inspection of workplaces under Enforcing Authority Regulations to ensure Health, Safety and Welfare for employees including investigation of accidents
- Water Pollution - Environment and Heritage Service officers are based at Omagh District Council and deal with Water Order Consents, Water Pollution investigation
- Consumer Protection - monitoring the safety of a wide range of products / goods and responding to complaints in respect of these
- Pest Control - service offered on a charged basis regarding rodent and insect control
- Food Safety - programmed assessment and inspections of food premises; assessing of foods for composition and labelling and investigation of food complaints and food poisoning.
