Registration

When starting a new catering business it is very important to get things right from the start because it will make it much easier for you to run your business well in the future. Any business which prepares, sells or handles food must register with the Councils Environmental Health Department under Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs Article 6 (2). 

For example:

  • Retail shops including farm shops
  • Restaurants, cafés, snack bars, takeaways, caterers
  • Staff restaurants, canteens, kitchens
  • Food manufacturers, processors, packers
  • Hospitals, residential homes, schools
  • Hotels, pubs, guest houses, bed and breakfast
  • A private house used as a food business
  • Food distributors, warehouses, importers, cash and carries
  • Moveable businesses – e.g. ice cream vans, chip vans, market stalls, delivery vehicles
  • Slaughterers
  • Village/Church Hall

How can you register?

Registration is simple. Food business operators must submit the food application form at least 28 days before commencing food operations.  There is no fee associated with registration
