Food Safety Week

Beat the bug this summer

This year’s food safety week runs from the 7-13 June with a focus on preventing Campylobacter food poisoning by highlighting the importance of proper cooking and avoiding cross contamination.

To help raise awareness the Food Standards Agency and safefood, in partnership with district councils throughout Northern Ireland, have made available a ‘Beat the Bug Kit’ for community groups packed full of tools to help groups get involved and spread these important food safety messages. Groups are being encouraged to get involved by using tools within the pack to compliment their own summer projects (i.e summer fairs, BBQ’s cookery demonstrations and quiz nights).
