Home Security Visits
Home Security visits are a free service aimed at reducing the fear of crime and to provide practical advice on home security among older people and families with children under the age of five.
The main objectives of the scheme are to educate and advise on ‘good home security practice,’ and to be instrumental in the reduction of incidents of burglary.
The project works closely with Community Safety partnerships and Crime Prevention Officers from the PSNI.
Examples of Security equipment which may be issued dependant on the outcome of the home security visit are as follows:
- Door chains
- Door Viewers
- Personal Alarms
- Plug in Timers
- Door/Window shock Alarms
In addition to carrying out Home Security assessments the Home Assessment Officer will upon request, carry out Home security talks and presentations to community groups, mother and toddler groups etc.
