Culture Leisure And Tourism
The Omagh District Council area has already a very well developed infrastructure for leisure and recreation, with the award winning Omagh Leisure Complex, modern play facilities throughout the District, parks and open spaces in all the towns and villages and miles of cycle paths. This is in addition to a wide range of private and voluntary owned and managed playing fields and sports facilities. The sporting community is diverse with most sports having a presence in the area.
The cultural infrastructure is also highly developed with a range of high quality cultural and heritage centres across the Council area. Work is already well under way on the development of a modern purpose built arts centre in Omagh Town which is due for completion in early 2007. Almost one hundred arts and cultural organisations are active within the District across the whole range of arts forms and cultural interests.
The culture, arts and leisure sector plays an important role in the development of the health and well being of the people of the area and is a crucial contributor to a quality of life which is enjoyed in the area!
