Careers Information Day
Strule Arts Centre was the venue for the second Irish language Career’s Information Day on the 1st of March 2011. Up on 200 students from 6 different schools heard from guest speakers who outlined their experience of working through Irish and received information from the representatives of 11 different organisations that operate through the medium of Irish.
These included Foras na Gaeilge, Conradh na Gaeilge, Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge, Nuacht24, An Carn, Gaelscéal, Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaoth Dobhair, University of Ulster Coleraine, Cultúrlann Dhoire, Pobal and Northern Ireland Screens.
The guest speaker on the day was Tomaí Ó Conghaile, a young journalist who works as a freelance and with the on line news service Nuacht24.
The aim of the Lá Eolais was to make young people at secondary school level aware of the job opportunities that exist in the Irish language sector as well as raising the profile of Irish locally.
Next Lá Eolais will take place in March 2012.
