OMAGH WHEELERS’ CYCLING CLUB
Est 1999
We cater for all the main road cycling activities, leisure cycling, touring, road racing and time trials.
The Omagh Wheelers’ Sunday run is now a tradition which has been running since our inauguration in January 1999. All year round we have club runs on Sunday leaving at10.30 from the car park of Omagh Leisure Centre. New faces are always very welcome, just come along and introduce yourself to any one of our members.
Cyclists of all abilities take part in this weekly social event that takes them for as long or short a distance as they can manage. Some leisure riders come along for the first 20 miles where the pace is a gentle 15 mph before turning back. More experienced riders do around 50 miles and the racing boys have been known to do anything up to 80 or 90 miles.

The routes are varied but usually take the pattern of heading out into the wind and enjoying the tailwind home. Along the way occasionally there are little impromptu sprints to see who can be the first to get between the 30 mph signs in some towns and villages.
Many types of rider can benefit from the experience:

Typical routes covered include:
· Fintona, Seskinore, Beragh, Sixmilecross, Carrickmore, Loughmacrory, Omagh
· Newtownstewart, Baronscourt, Drumquin, Dromore, Fintona, Omagh
· Creggan, Greencastle, Gortin, Newtownstewart, Drumquin, Dromore, Omagh
Beragh, Seskinore, Fintona, Dromore, Drumquin, Newtownstewart, Omagh

Casual cyclists. It is a great opportunity for people who would like to ride more to meet other cyclists, get some exercise and enjoy the benefits of riding in a group at a time when the roads are very quiet.
Full lycra cycling regalia is not required! However we would suggest that you wear a helmet

Aspiring racing cyclists. For people who would like to take up racing it is the perfect opportunity to meet other riders, aquire the important skills of riding in a group and in general to learn a lot more about cycling and how to train and pace yourself than you would otherwise learn just riding by yourself.
Experienced riders. For the experienced riders it is good stamina training, particularly on the longer runs in the summer.

Cyclists assemble at Omagh Leisure Centre for 10.30am every Sunday morning throughout the year. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the banter. Afterwards you'll feel refreshed and secure in the knowledge that you haven't wasted your weekend.
What better way to spend your Sunday morning?
