City Vision 2025
“Omagh: Towards A City Vision for 2025” is an integrated and sustainable development strategy for the period to 2025; a strategy that sets out the economic, social and environmental challenges for Omagh and outlines how these will be addressed to advance the well being and quality of life of the people.
A number of strands of analysis have been undertaken to highlight Omagh’s existing ‘Assets’, identify what constrains their performance, and outline the ‘Drivers’ of economic growth.
The study identified 5 “platforms for change” which will define the vision for Omagh to 2025. These are all inter-related and include:
- Regional Leadership;
- Economic Expansion;
- Social Prosperity;
- Educational Excellence; and
- Environmental Quality.
The platforms for change are all linked by the common objective to devise a set of specific circumstances that will enable a positive and sustainable period of growth to 2025 and achieve an improved quality of life for Omagh.
The challenge ahead is for all sectors to continue to work together to build on Omagh’s outstanding track record of delivery and achievement, and actively embrace this period of dynamic and unprecedented transformation. Together, we will fulfil the Vision and through a sustainable development approach, achieve city status for Omagh.
