Omagh’s First Halloween Buskfest
Work continues to promote Omagh as both a visitor destination and a local shopping and hospitality hot-spot through the ongoing promotion of the area and the organising of a series of events throughout the year. Omagh town centre has everything you need, all in a convenient and compact town centre. It is renowned for its unique mix of family run businesses and top high street names, a pleasure to visit any time of the day or night.
On Saturday 29 October 2011, the town centre will be the focal point for the first Omagh Halloween Buskfest. From 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm busking acts, including up-and-coming musicians and acoustic bands, will have the opportunity to showcase their talent while creating a lively, seasonal atmosphere for the Halloween weekend. Halloween entertainment will continue into the evening with family activities and Halloween Fancy Dress competition at the Grange Park at 6:00 pm, culminating with the annual Halloween Fireworks Spooktacular which will take place this year at the Grange Park car park.
In addition to the busking acts, street characters will entertain everyone in the town throughout the afternoon, while a ‘Guided Historical Walking Tour’ of Omagh will take place at 1pm and again at 3.30pm. The tour will start at the Old Tourist Information Centre and although the walking tour is free, booking is essential. If you are interested in attending the historical tour of Omagh, please contact Oonagh on 07971 660 521.
Saturday 29 October also sees the Omagh Farmers’ Food Market located at South West College car park from 9am – 1.30pm where you will find the freshest and best in local goods. The Ulster American Folk Park’s infamous Halloween Festival runs from 4pm – 9.30pm throughout the weekend so we expect a large number of visitors to Omagh over the Halloween break.
“Omagh District Council continues to promote Omagh as a great place to visit, and this Halloween a number of events throughout the area will further enhance the attractiveness of the town” said Omagh District Council Chairman, Councillor Frankie Donnelly. “Omagh has developed into one of the premier visitor destinations in the West and these initiatives and programmes of events create and further enhance the atmosphere of a vibrant Omagh town”.
