Illegal Dumps
Generally speaking fly tipping is the illegal deposit of any waste onto land i.e. waste dumped on a site with no waste disposal licence. General household waste, large domestic items e.g. fridges, garden refuse and commercial waste are examples of common fly tipped waste.
Accordingly fly tipping incidents need to be treated on a case-by-case basis, which is costly. It is not only an eye-sore to the environment but it can also attract vermin. If you observe fly tipping, or more often, discover fly tipped waste, you should contact the council's Enforcement Officer (Litter) to report the incident. Any persons caught or proven to have been guilty of fly tipping will also be issued a serious fine and in some cases may face imprisonment.
