Blue Bins

Blue Bin for Dry Recyclables

Omagh District Council introduced blue bins to residents to divert “dry recyclable waste” away from our ever decreasing landfill space and spiralling associated costs. This is one measure that the council has committed to in order to achieve recycling and reduction in waste to landfill targets set by Government and EU legislation. Omagh District has made huge improvements  in its effort to meet this target, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill from over 28000 tonnes in 2006 to 15,696 tonnes 2010/11. Thanks to residents our current annual recycling rate is 39.91%
