About The Council

Omagh District Council is one of 26 local authorities in Northern Ireland. The Council has a range of roles and functions including:

  • a direct role in which the council is responsible within its own area for certain services
  • a representative role where its nominees sit as representatives on various statutory bodies
  • a consultative role through which the council reflects the views of the community on the operation of certain regional services
  • provision of direct services
  • enabling role.
